This September I had the pleasure to create the Illustrations and a small publication design for the Global Cultural Assembly, an independent group of Indigenous leaders formed at Humboldt Forum in Berlin with the objective to create a dialogue between their communities and the museum.

The GCA, which now has a physical space for their activities at the institution, hopes to act as a channel to the voices of indigenous communities around the world, specially the ones whose cultural belongings are part of the Humboldt Forum museum's collections.

For Aeon/Psyche magazine, on ‘A guide to Drinking Coffee’.

Illustrated coffee packaging and promotional material for a special edition of Bingo Maru, speciality coffee from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The package illustration shows an endemic tree from the region of São Gotardo, where Okyuama - family-run company that produces the coffee - is based.

And the postcard features some of the most iconic animals of the Brazilian bioma of Cerrado: Tucano-toco, Lobo Guará,Tatu-canastra, Caburé, Onça-pintada, Pau-santo-da-serra, Anta, Tamanduá Bandeira, Buriti, Ema, Uruçu Amarela and Flor-do cerrado (also known as Calliandra).

3-Colour silkscreen print, 50 copies.

This print is a 3 colour version of a large scale ink drawing made in two versions: one which was posted for an art festival in Goiania, Brazil, and another that is currently exhibited at the art space Raum fur Raum in Alt-Treptow, Berlin. It plays with the concept of indecision and duality that inhabits all of us, and the choices we make in every second of existence.

Printed in Berlin in November 2023.

‘From Rhythm to Algorithm’ is an exhibition of fifteen 10-meter-high silk banners, each one featuring a different movement of the story of music. The visitors will be able to access via QR code the texts written by music writer Alessandro Andreola and know more about each musical genre or movement, such as Reggae, Ska, Rock, Punk, Post-Punk, Brazilian Maracatu and Mangue Bit.

Here, celebrating the Jamaica rhythm of Reggae, Ska and Dub, caricatures (or illustrated portraits) of Bob Marley, the I-Trees, Lee Scratch Perry and a sound system are depicted.

The exhibition takes place at the stage of the theatre Opera de Arame (Wire Opera), situated on an old mining site transformed in a scenic ecological park, a metal and glass structure built over a lake - one of Curitiba’s *my hometown) touristic landmarks.

Here, caricatures (or illustrated portraits) of some emblematic figures of the rich musical history of Pernambuco, Brazil: Luiz Gonzaga, Jackson do Pandeiro (from Paraíba :) ), Maracatu performers, and Chico Science from Nação Zumbi. Also, Lampião e Maria Bonita, leaders of the most famous bandit pack from the Pernambuco’s cangaço of the 20’s and 30’s, whose stories still influence the popular culture of Nothwest Brazil today.

It was a challenge and a pleasure to paint this 23x3 meter-long mural at the center of Rights of the Person with Disabilities (Direitos da Pessoa com Deficiência), in Curitiba, Brazil, during 3 days of summer.

It is inspired by the five senses, the universal curiosity and adaptability of the human being, and by the Libras - the Brazillian sign language, used by people with auditory disability.

The center is an institution run by the prefecture of the city, that promotes and supports the respect for diversity in society in many levels. It also provides legal and general advice for those with physical conditions.

Thanks all the staff off of the Center for the kindness and for their beautiful work, as also thanks to the assistants Giovana Töws, Lucao and Marlon Schluga.

Mural design for a primary school mural for the borough of Kingston Upon Thames, London 2018

‘Les Oiseuax du Brésil’ (The Birds of Brasil) was a project that featured eight outdoor signs with hidden speakers around the Jardin the Acclimatation in Paris. Each illustrated, large-scale sign reproduced the sounds of one of the most iconic songbirds of Brazil, along with the illustrations and description text. It was a rare occasion for Parisians to listen to these popular tropical and subtropical birds of Brasil without leaving their favourite park.

The project was a celebration of the work of Jacques Vielliard (1944-2010), French ornithologist notorious for his work of sound recording of Brazilian species.
